Meissen, porcelain sculpture “Orientals”, 19th-20th century, is a German sculpture, made of porcelain.

Meissen is German porcelain. The name comes from the city of Saxon Meissen, where porcelain was first made in Europe. The first European porcelain was built in Meissen in 1708. Méissen’s first porcelain factory in Europe was founded in 1710.

In the past, the traditional customer cycle of the Meissen porcelain factory included the richest families in Europe and Russia. According to some reports, in 1770, 40% of all Meissen porcelain exports were imported to Russia.

Meissen porcelain does not lose its value for collectors today. Today, as 300 years ago, all Meissen porcelain is created by hand. The colors for porcelain painting are mixed by hand according to a recipe that is already several hundred years old.

According to Meissen, about 10,000 shades are used to create Meissen porcelain. The Meissen collection contains 200,000 Meissen porcelain models from different periods.
Many sculptures by Meissen are in public and private collections in Greece and abroad.
