Description

His painting is documentary and, for the most part, anthropocentric. His subjects come from everyday reality, but are treated with a poetic mood and with an almost surreal sensitivity.

Faces, spaces and objects are transformed into symbols and participate in dreamy narrative compositions, often with erotic connotations or with a nostalgic mood reminiscent of a fairy tale. In most of his paintings, elements of the Greek tradition are traced, which coexist with references to modern Parisian art. In the context of his involvement with hagiography, he has painted Greek churches with the fresco technique and has created many portable icons.

From 2000 to 2016 he taught at the Athens School of Fine Arts and directed the Laboratory of Fresco and Portable Image Technique.

Pavlos Samios has presented his work in more than 25 solo exhibitions in various cities of Greece, as well as in Paris, London, New York (retrospective), Hanoi and others. He has also participated in important group and international exhibitions in Greece, France and various other parts of the world (Europe, Asia, America, Australia, etc.).

Pavlos Samios (1948-2021) – Painting, oil on canvas – An exceptional and collectible painting.
