Biography:

The painter Spyros Papanikolaou was born in 1905 in the Monastery of Trifyllia. He studied sculpture at ASKT (1927-1932) and served as an assistant in the workshop of Th. Thomopoulos until 1937. From 1937 he turned to painting.

Spyros Papanikolaou worked on sets of the National Theater next to K. Klonis, set designs for the free theater, while finally close to F. Kontoglou from 1960 and for five years he engaged in hagiography. He died in Athens in 1986.

Many of the Papanikolaou works are in many public and private collections in Greece and abroad. He was a very good and honest artist!
