Biography:

Andreas V. Georgiadis, also known as Kris (November 1892 – August 11, 1981) was a Greek painter and professor emeritus of the Academy of Fine Arts, where he taught from 1947 to 1961.

Andreas Georgiadis was born in Chania and in 1892 he went to Athens, where he studied at the School of Fine Arts. When the Balkan Wars broke out he enlisted and fought in Macedonia and Epirus where he was injured and lost one of his eyes. For his action on the battle front he was awarded a medal. In 1916 he returned to the capital, continuing his studies alongside great teachers, such as George Roilos and George Iakovides.

With a scholarship Andreas Georgiadis also studied in France and then in Spain, Belgium and Germany. He took part in solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He was awarded the first prize of the pan-Hellenic painting competition for the work “Exodos Messolonghi” (1922), the Aberofian Prize of the NTUA (1924), the Volteio 1st Prize of the University of Athens (1928) and the prize of the Pan-Hellenic Painting Exhibition (1937). In 1937 he participated together with artists such as Apostolos Geralis, Georgios Prokopiou and Spyridon Vikatos in the movement of Academic painters and after the war he was one of the most active members of the Artistic Chamber of Greece.

In 1947 Andreas Georgiadis was elected professor at ASKT. Among his students are artists such as Spyros Vassiliou, Rallis Kopsidis, Dimitris Perdikidis, Paris Prekas, Konstantinos Kontogiannis and Chrysa Romanou.

Andreas Georgiadis used to sign his works with the name “Chris”. He died in Athens in 1981.

Shipment / Delivery

The shipping of goods is made within three working days after the payment.
For our shipments we use the Greek Post Office (ELTA).
Shipment can also be made with a way of transfer of your choice, but at your own expense.

You can also collect your orders from our store with no shipping cost.

We inform you that objects of art cannot be returned, unless you have received a wrong order, or an object is damaged during shipment.
