Biography:

She was born in 1902 in Athens and studied at the School of Fine Arts where she had a teacher, Thomas Thomopoulos. From 1927 to 1930 she studied with a scholarship in Paris with Antoine Bourdell, while she was also a student of Dimitris Galanis.

Upon her return to Greece, she held her first solo exhibition, took part in the Art Group and at the same time made several trips to various European countries.

After the end of World War II she settled permanently in Paris. Starting in 1930, she held several solo exhibitions and at the same time participated in dozens of group exhibitions inside and outside Greece.

Her participations in the Venice Biennale in 1934 and 1940, in the Paris International Fair in 1937 etc. stand out. At the same time, she supported Angelos Sikelianos and Eva Palmer in the organization of the Delphic Festivals.

Raftopoulou had stone as her main material, while in her works she dealt mainly with figures of women, animals and birds. At the beginning of her career, realistic performance was predominant, while she gradually turned to abstract and expressionist compositions. Apart from sculpture, she also engaged in engraving (mainly woodcuts).

She died in 1992 in Athens.

Shipment / Delivery

The shipping of goods is made within three working days after the payment.
For our shipments we use the Greek Post Office (ELTA).
