Biography:

Dimitris Tiniakos (1920-1997) was a Greek painter and poet.

Dimitris Tiniakos was born in Andros in 1920 (according to others in 1915), and was a permanent resident of Korydallos (Piraeus). He was a graduate of the School of Fine Arts. In the workshop of Konstantinos Parthenis he studied painting, while he was taught engraving by Giannis Kefallinos. He had taken part in many group exhibitions both at home and abroad and in all the post-war exhibitions of Zappeion. He had presented more than 20 solo exhibitions.

Dimitris Tiniakos was distinguished mainly for his performance in engraving and watercolor. The characteristics of his works are the impeccable technique combined with a restrained lyrical feeling. His works are now adorned by Banks, Municipalities and other bodies. In 1989 the National Gallery honored him with a special exhibition of his works.

Dimitris Tiniakos died on December 9, 1997 from cancer and was buried at the expense of the municipality.
